How to get more enquiries from the website you already have

Simple, proven changes that increase the number of enquiries a small business website generates, without a full rebuild.

Traffic isn't usually the problem. Plenty of small business websites get visitors and still produce two enquiries a month, because the site doesn't make it obvious what to do next.

Say what you do, where you do it, and what happens next, above the fold. A visitor should know within three seconds that they're in the right place.

Put your phone number in the header and make it tappable on mobile. It sounds obvious. It's missing from a surprising number of sites.

Shorten the form. Name, mobile number and a line about the job is enough to start a conversation. Every extra field costs you enquiries.

Give the enquiry a reason to happen now: a same-day callback, a free quote, or simply a clear promise that you'll reply within the hour during working days.

Show proof close to the action. Reviews, real photos of your own work and the areas you cover do more for conversion than a longer About page.

And reply fast. Speed of response is the single biggest factor in whether an enquiry turns into a job, which is why an automatic first reply matters even when you're up a ladder.
