How to get more Google reviews for your trade business
A practical guide for UK trades and local service businesses on asking for Google reviews at the right moment, and getting more of them without feeling pushy.

Most trades businesses have far fewer Google reviews than they've earned. It isn't because customers are unhappy, it's because nobody asked them, or they were asked at the wrong time, in the wrong way.
Timing does most of the work. The best moment to ask is right after the job is finished and the customer is pleased with it. A day later they're back at work and thinking about something else. A week later it's gone entirely.
Make it a single tap. If a customer has to open Google, search your business name, scroll and find the review button, most won't finish. A direct review link sent by text removes every step but one.
Ask like a human. "Glad you're happy with it, if you get a spare minute, a quick Google review really helps a small business like ours" works better than a formal template. Don't offer anything in exchange; incentivised reviews break Google's rules and customers can tell.
Be consistent rather than occasional. Ten reviews spread over a year looks healthier than thirty in one week, and a steady stream tells anyone reading that you're still busy and still good.
Reply to every review, including the difficult ones. A calm, factual reply to a poor review often reassures a reader more than the five-star ones above it.
The only part of this that reliably fails is remembering to do it. That's why we build the review request into the system: when a job is marked complete, the message goes out automatically with your review link in it.
